Here are news items that affect the core assignments and class material.

2013-10-24

• Lab 4 has been fixed to suggest running make distdir rather than make gen-ChangeLog to verify the ChangeLog entry.

2013-10-21

• Lab 4 has been tweaked to describe how the ChangeLog file is automatically generated in recent versions of Diffutils.

2013-10-09

• Lauren's office hours are Tuesdays 14:30–15:30 and Thursdays 11:30–12:30 in Boelter 2432.
• Hongyi's office hours are Thursdays 11:30–13:30 in Boelter 2432.
• Zijun's office hours are Wednesdays 16:30–17:30 and Thursdays 17:30–18:30 in Boelter 2432.
• Jerry's office hours are Tuesdays 09:00–11:00 in Boelter 2432.

• We'll be using the current Ubuntu desktop x86 release. It'll be helpful (though not essential) to bring a USB drive to the first lab. Experts are welcome to use another recent Linux distribution.
• Assignment 1 and Assignment 10 are available. Please see Assignments for other assignments. These other assignments are tentative and may change before the week they are due.
• Check that your SEASnet account works right away, as there are occasionally delays before your account is activated.
• Here is a suggestion if you're interested in the course but are neither enrolled nor on the waiting list.
  • Any PTEs are not typically given out until the end of the second week, to make sure that enough resources are available. You can try coming to classes before then. Sign up on any attendance sheet that is being passed around.
