- Homework 2 has been clarified, as follows.
- More explanation is given as to why successful acceptors
typically return Some (derivation,fragment) values.
- An explanation is given for why rightmost derivations are used:
namely, it's supposed to make the assignment simpler.
- More explanation is given for the order of rules to use.
- Two typos are fixed by replacing make_matcher with
parse_prefix (twice).
- Another test case, test5, has been added, to give
an example of an acceptor that is conditional on its derivation
argument.
We'll talk more about this homework in class tomorrow.
- Andrew Binstock's article Dynamic
languages: More than just a quick fix in today's InfoWorld
examines some of the practical reasons why interest in dynamic
languages like Python and Ruby has been increasing recently.
