    - Assignment 7 is available;
it is similar to (but not the same as) the draft Assignment 8.

    - Assignment 3 has been
fixed as follows. First, you are allowed to use the
locale
module as well as the string module. Second,
an additional constraint has been added: lines that
appear only in the second input file should be output after all other
output lines. Because of these last-minute additions we will award
a 10% bonus for solving the complete new problem. If you
correctly solve the original problem in the C locale (native
byte comparison), without putting the only-second-input-file
lines at the end, you will be limited to 100% credit without the
      bonus.

    - A typo in Assignment 3 has been
fixed: the submission instructions make it clear that one should
      check comm.py, not randline.py.

    - Assignment 3 is available;
it differs from its draft version.

   - We'll be using the current Ubuntu
    desktop release. It'll be helpful
(though not essential) to bring a USB drive to the first
lab. Experts are welcome to use another recent Linux
    distribution.

   - Assignment 1 and Assignment 10 are available. Please
    see Assignments for other
assignments. These other assignments are tentative and may
change before the week they are due.

   - Check that your
    SEASnet
account works right away, as there are occasionally delays before
    your account is activated.

   -
    Here are suggestions if you're
interested in the course but are neither enrolled nor on the waiting list.

     -
       Read Enrollment in
Undergraduate Computer Science Classes and follow its advice.

     -
Any PTEs are not typically given out until the end of the second week,
to make sure that enough resources are available.
You can try coming to classes before then.
Sign up on any attendance sheet that is being passed around.
