Here are ten topics for your one-page report. Each topic is illustrated by a single article or web page, but please don't limit your reading to just this web page: you should be coming up with a summary of the topic, not the article. Some of the topics are fairly large; the intent is that you look at the operating system components of each topic. Please submit a one-page report in PDF form for the topic you chose.

• Building operating systems (that is, operating systems for buildings)
• Drive-by downloads
• JEOPARD
• MERASA
• MapReduce scheduling
• Stealing encrypted data by freezing DRAM
• Sun SPOTs
• System z10's operating systems.
• The multicore challenge
• Vulnerabilities in replicated virtual servers

• Updated versions of Image 1 and Image 2 are available for Lab 2. An updated run-qemu script is also available. On SEASnet, you can copy these files from the directory /usr/local/cs/src/cs111 to save yourself the trouble of downloading them. Either place these images in QEMU's share directory, or you can specify the directory containing the images on the run-qemu command line.
