Lets look at Mickey Mouse for example.
He only has 4 fingers on each hand, for a total of 8.
Does he count the same way as us?
No, he and many other cartoon characters with only 8 fingers would feel unnatural counting like us.
Why?
Since he only has 8 fingers, he would not be able to show us the number 9 using his fingers.
