This site was initiated in 1996 but active work to upgrade it commenced January 1997. This collection of items represents work in progress, most of it by the two people who did most of the work on revising format and adding files, namely Allen Klinger and Gavin Wu. Two files here within Fundamental Concepts represent collaborative effort by them, while a third is a translation into Spanish by Juan Carlos Sanchez Agrelo. Eskandar Ensafi also contributed, particularly in bringing me into more able use of HTML, as did a student in the Winter '97 CS 190 Computer Science Design Project Course, Keith Chiem.

My strong interests include human/computer-interaction, the role of images in math/cs education, and the place of mathematics as a gateway topic to technical fields. Gavin Wu did a directed studies course with me Winter '97 and his report for that appears here.
