Investigating what artists do began a process that led to becoming
one. Instead of decomposing imagery into numbers as in scanning, the
artistic creation process is holistic. Computer handling of images is at
the core of many activities. Increased internet access via fast connections
will accelerate need for and interest in computing that derives
conceptual or linguistic information from images.
Research activity consists of exploring Open Questions. They may be visual representation or mathematical in
nature.
Minimal and maximal representations of scenery give rise to the key
question "what communicates nature in images people create?"
