For Prospective PhD Students:
I am now recruiting PhD students that are with great passion in research, strong in maths and programming, and strong in communication skills. You are encouraged to apply to UCLA, and mention me as your potential mentor. I understand some of you want to introduce yourself via emails, and a guideline is provided below.
-
Use Subject Line: 2017 Prospective Students_YourName
-
Briefly introduce your education background, your GPA/Rank, English Test Scores, and other highlights that you want to mention (e.g., awards and publications).
-
Briefly introduce your research experience, and explain what your general research interests and strengths are.
-
Explain why you want to choose me as your PhD advisor. Briefly mention one of my recent work that you are most interested in, and discuss the potential extensions that you might want to work on.
-
Include your CV in the attachment.
-
I will read every email, but unfortunately I cannot afford to reply all of them.
For Undergraduate Summer Intern Applicants:
-
If you are from China, please consider applying to UCLA CSST (Cross-disciplinary Scholars in Science and Technology) summer program: https://www.csst.ucla.edu/summerprogram.htm, which has 20 partner universities in China.
-
Beyond the CSST program, our group will host about 1 intern per year, who should be able to commit for 4-6 months to fullfill a complete project.
