Dear Dr. Law, We've come up with an idea for our project and would like your feedback. If you don't think it's appropriate (too hard, too easy, or irrelevant to the course), please let us know. The idea is about visualizing a fluid flow, e.g., a tornado. The flow data, i.e., the velocity of flow at each point, will have to be generated or acquired externally. Our program will implement two of the techniques frequently used to visualize the flow, namely, 1) Streamlines. The program will create streamlines, made of curve lines or thin ribbons, as the first approach the visualize the flow. The user may change the view point and view direction to observe the flow from different angles. 2) Animation of flowing particles. In this approach, one or more particles are dropped into the flow and the program will create an animation of the particles moving along the flow, in real time I hope. The user may choose where to drop the particles and how many of them. Regards, Jack Chih-Chun Wei
