  • Assignment 9 is available. It is due December 6, with no late submissions allowed.

  • A typo in Assignment 5 has been corrected, by replacing "expand lab.txt sfrob.txt" with "expand report.txt" in the submission instructions.
  • The deadline for Assignment 5 has been extended by 1 day, to tomorrow.

  • Assignment 6 is now available, and is quite different from the draft.

  • Classes are canceled today due to the Getty fire; see the Bruin Safe Online announcement.
  • Assignment 5 is now available, and its homework is different from the draft assignment.

  • Assignment 2's homework has been clarified again: a command like poornames a/b/.. should output names like a/b/../c+d (i.e., if D is a relative filename then the output should be relative too), and a command like poornames a/b/..// should output names like a/b/..//c+d (i.e., trailing slashes in D are preserved but not added to).
  • Assignment 2's homework has been clarified: poornames should not follow command-line symbolic links.

  • Assignment 2 is available; its homework part differs somewhat from the draft assignment.

  • Create your SEASnet account and then check that it works as soon as you can, as there are occasionally delays before your account is activated.
  • Here are suggestions if you're interested in the course but are neither enrolled nor on the waiting list.
    • Read Enrollment in Computer Science Classes and follow its advice.
    • Any PTEs are not typically given out until the end of the second week, to make sure that enough resources are available. You can try coming to classes before then. Sign up on any attendance sheet that is being passed around.
