Here are news items that affect the core assignments and class material.

2023-11-30
  • Assignment 6 has been corrected to specify lrand48_r instead of arc4random_buf. The latter function is available in RHEL 9 but unfortunately the SEASnet GNU/Linux servers are still running RHEL 8.

  • Assignments 5 and 6 have been swapped, and their due dates changed. Assignment 6 is still tentative.
2023-10-17
  • The project now requires that you also address security issues, e.g., via authentication.
2023-10-05
  • Sections 1C and 1E have swapped rooms. CS 35L Dis 1C is now in Dodd 175. CS 35L Dis 1E is now in Kaufman 101.
2023-10-03
  • The LA for section 1E is now Paul Serafimescu.
2023-09-27
  • Assignment 1 is available.
  • Create your SEASnet account and then check that it works as soon as you can, as there are occasionally delays before your account is activated.
  • Here are suggestions if you're interested in the course but are neither enrolled nor on the waiting list.
    • Read Enrollment in Computer Science Classes and follow its advice.
    • Any PTEs are not typically given out until the end of the second week, to make sure that enough resources are available. You can try coming to classes before then. Sign up on any attendance sheet that is being passed around.
