About
I am Alex Hung (孔令宇), a ph.D. candidate in the Computer Science department at UCLA, expecting to gradute by summer, 2025. I am currently conducting in Sung Lab where I have the privilege of being advised by Prof. Kyung Hyun Sung and Prof. Demetri Terzopoulos. Prior to joining UCLA, I was a Master's student in the Biomedical Image Guidance Lab at CMU under the guidance of prof. John Galeotti. Before my graduate studies, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Peking University where I conducted research with Prof. Tianyu Xie and also minored in Computer Science. During my undergraduate studies, I also briefly worked in Penn Image Computing and Science Lab at UPenn under the supervision of Prof. Paul Yushkevich.
My main research interest lies in generative models, uncertainty quantification, segmentation and detection in volumetric data. Specifically, I focus on volumetric segmentation with 2D convolutions by leveraging cross-slice information, prompt-based segmentation tehniques, aleatoric and epistemic uncertainty estimation for enhanced model explanability, as well as developing deep generative models for artifacts removal and data augmentation.

Misc
I am a passionate sports fan, cheering for the LA Dodgers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, UCLA Bruins, and Chelsea FC. Beyond watching sports, I stay active by going to the gym regularly, playing men's league hockey, and enjoying pickup basketball. In addition to sports, I am a bedroom music producer, DJ, and rapper, sharing some of my creations on Soundcloud.
