Yuzhe Yang

I am an Assistant Professor of Computational Medicine and Computer Science at UCLA. Previously, I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science at MIT, advised by Dina Katabi. Before MIT, I received my B.S. with honors from Peking University.

I develop machine learning methods to solve important problems in healthcare and medicine. Please see my research lab for details. Health Intelligence Lab

Our lab works on advancing scalable, multisensory, and generative AI to drive innovations in healthcare, medicine, and scientific discovery.

AI for Medicine and Science: Using AI to accelerate scientific discovery for human health and diseases, as in AI biomarker for Parkinson's disease.
Generalist Health Models: Building general-purpose multisensory foundation and language models for scalable health intelligence, as in LSM and SensorLM.
Universal Health Intelligence Access: Making health insights universally and equitably accessible, as in SimPer and deployable medical imaging AI .

Trustworthy Learning Algorithms: Creating AI that can be reliably deployed in high-stakes applications, as in DIR, MDLT, and SubpopBench.

Paper published in Nature Medicine. We explore biases in medical AI and address challenges of subpopulation fairness in real-world deployments.

🏀 I am a big fan of basketball. I've been in the MIT CSSA basketball team, where we won 5th place in the Northeastern Division (season 2022-23). Back to my undergrad, I was a member of the PKU EECS basketball team, where we won the Champion of the 2014 PKU Freshman Cup basketball tournament.
