You are invited to a presentation and meeting in the Computer Science Department that will highlight opportunities for Computer Science and Computer Science and Engineering students to be involved in various ways in research projects and in Prof Alfonso Cardenas research projects in the Information and Data Management area. Opportunities for diversity undergraduates, as well as high school students and community college students in the outreach programs, will be outlined. There are several openings for undergraduate assistantships including $stipends provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF) FOCUS grant awarded to UCLA http://www.ceed.ucla.edu/focus/ .
Prof. Cardenas and graduate students in his research group will present highlights of a research project on internet searching for news or documents of interest to a particular person for which system test volunteer openings are available now, as well as software development projects during the summer and school year, with the opportunity to learn and be involved with this advanced and visible research project http://www.mist.cs.ucla.edu/
Prof. Cardenas and students in his research group, and possibly other faculty members, will dialogue with interested students at the end.
