News for UCLA Computer Science 35L, Fall 2018
Here are news items that affect the core assignments and
- Some browsers are misdisplaying the
"2²⁴" in Assignment 6,
presumably because they are missing some fonts.
This number is 2 to the 24th power.
The assignment has been reworded to make the number clearer.
- Assignment 5's
submission instructions have been changed to use a single file
report.txt in place of two files in the draft version.
- Assignments 7 and
8 have been tentatively swapped.
- A typo in Assignment 4
has been fixed: the output of ls -lt --full-time
was listed out of order.
- Assignment 4
is available, and differs from its draft version.
- Assignment 3's
due date has been extended by one day, to tomorrow. Also,
the following clarifications have been made:
- The phrase "installed
ls" means the
Coreutils 8.29 version installed into your temporary directory,
not whatever Coreutils version installed as
- The patch might not apply perfectly. Don't worry, but
note any problems.
- Use the patch's test case as an inspiration for how to
test whether the bug has been fixed; you need not use
that test case exactly.
Assignment 3 has been corrected to not require support
for more than one non-option argument.
- Assignment 1 and Assignment 10 are available. Please
see Assignments for other
assignments. These other assignments are tentative and may
change before the week they are due.
- Create your SEASnet
account and then check that it works as soon as
you can, as there are occasionally delays before
your account is activated.
Here are suggestions if you're
interested in the course but are neither enrolled nor on the waiting list.
Read Enrollment in
Computer Science Classes and follow its advice.
Any PTEs are not typically given out until the end of the second week,
to make sure that enough resources are available.
You can try coming to classes before then.
Sign up on any attendance sheet that is being passed around.
